If you aren’t a fan of the intensely sweet, made-from-a-mix, restaurant style margarita, this is the recipe for you! It’s simple, fresh, and strong, just how nature intended.
Caution: More than two consumed can cause some serious truth-telling!
3 oz. Tequila, blanco, reposado, or anejo – it’s all fantastic
*Use Blanco (white) for a tart taste with a little bite at the end
*Use Reposado (gold) for a warmer taste with an even warmer finish
*Use Anejo for a super smooth, make-you-drink-it-3-times-as-fast taste
1 oz. Triple Sec
2 oz. Fresh lime juice (about 1 ½ limes) – this is a key ingredient!
1/2 oz. Simple Syrup
Mixed drink shaker
It’s not rocket science, but you must be precise.
–Combine tequila, triple sec, lime juice, simple syrup, and ice in a shaker.
–Shake for about 20 seconds and pour through a strainer into a low-ball glass – rimmed with salt or sugar – over ice (or margarita glass with no ice).
–Squeeze the juice from the lime wedge over the top, drop it into the glass or use as garnish and stir three times.
